The Great Wedding

Millions of people looked on as the Royals were wed today. I can only imagine the thoughts that went through so many peoples minds. Visions of sugar plums dancing through heads.

I was tickled when I saw Letterman the other night calling trying to get an invite. Now, that was funny. Not so funny was the invitation that was taken away, like the ambassador of Syria because of the killing of their innocent civilians. That had to be somewhat embarassing to get an invite to such a prestigious affair only to have it taken away. I can only imagine how it felt to tell someone, well you were at one time worthy of being invited but now you are not worthy so now you are not invited.

Throughout The Bible, the followers of Christ are referred to as the bride and Christ The Bridegroom. Revelation 19:7“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” 8It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. 9 Then he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.”

Friends, this is The Wedding to be a part of. This is the most prestigious wedding that there will ever be and Jesus stands patiently at the door of our heart knocking wanting us to join the wedding party. You see, in his eyes we are all royalty worth laying his life down for us. This is why I chose him.

Easter Sunday

Luke 24:1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; 5 and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the living One among the dead? 6 "He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, 7 saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." 8 And they remembered His words, 9 and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now they were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James; also the other women with them were telling these things to the apostles. 11 But these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe them. 12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.

Do you marvel at what happened or do these words appear as nonsense to you? I marvel. This is why I chose him. Happy Easter!

Good Friday

About thirty years ago at seven am every morning I would listen to Chuck Swindoll on the radio, it was during this week before Easter that he was doing this series about all the biblical events leading up to Easter weekend. I will never forget it because he painted a picture with his words that will forever be in my mind and heart. Yes I had heard the crucifixion preached before but not like this. I remember when I left my house the program would start and the next thing I knew I was parked at work still listening when he finished for that day I would just sit there in my car with tears in my eyes and could not even remember driving. He so eloquently spoke about The Last Supper, the prayers in the garden of Gethsemane, the betrayal, Peter's denial. The in depth details of Christ's brutal beating and crucifixion like I had never heard before. He talked about the lead tipped whip (flagrum or flagellum) used to scourge and how it would not only sting and inflict pain but also pull flesh from the body. The crown of thorns, the mocking, being spit upon and how Satan and his demons must have been so delighted in this. He talked about the long journey carrying this heavy crossbeam after the scourging. The nailing of His body to the cross and how one could not breathe while hanging from the cross without pushing himself up by his feet and how the body had to constantly work up and down on the cross just to breathe. The earthquake, the vail, the centurion, God turning his back. He talked about how the sinister darkness blotted out the sun and
smothered Jerusalem under a blanket of evil. The devil had won, The Son of God was dead once and for all. Swindoll said, the demons, the darkness and the death all three worked diligently throughout the ministry of Jesus to bring about this long and anguishing day. But what noone could see is that The Messiah's death would stike at the very heart of evil.

On this Good Friday as we smell the flowers, gas up the boats and die the eggs lets not forget what he did for us. Life would be so miserable if we did not have this hope. This is why I chose him.

Thoughts for today

You ask me how I know He lives. He lives within my heart. There are no words that can express His Joy that I feel when thinking about Him and while reading and meditating on His Word.

There are many gods, if it were not so, God would never have said "Thou shall have no other gods before me". There are thousands of gods, goddesses, demigods, Greek gods but there is only one True God, The Creator of the world and the heavens.

Satan wanted and still wants to be god, he lures people into thinking that they can become gods. That's how he lured Adam and Eve into eating the apple. He told her she could be like God and Satan is doing it today. There are people living their lives to become a god instead of living their life because they love God and totally appreciate what He did for us. There is a big difference and God knows our hearts.

God gave us free will to choose any god we want. He did not make us robots. He chose us but he also allows us to choose Him. Of all the gods that have walked on this earth. There is only One that has an empty grave. This is one of the reasons I chose him. He Is Alive!
